Barcode Validation

The 100% Solution for Traded Units

DesignWrights supplies end-of-line barcode scanning equipment that scans and confirms the readability of every barcoded label applied to a pack as it leaves a production line.

By placing your quality control equipment at the end of the packaging process, the maximum number of potential labelling faults can be monitored and prevented :-

Label printer faults

  • Out of label stock
  • Broken of jammed foil
  • Incorrect barcode for the pack
  • Printhead failure

Applicator faults

  • Misplacement of the label on the pack
  • Insufficient tamp pressure - the label falls off

Pack related faults

  • Creasing due to heat shrink wrapping
What is a barcode verifier ?

A barcode verifier is a calibrated instrument which analyses a barcode and grades its quality, typically according to CEN/ANSI standards. For consistent and accurate results, a verifier must be used at a fixed distance from the barcode, under controlled lighting conditions, and when the barcode is static. Usually hand held, they cannot be used "on-line" to grade every code.

Using our scanner controller and an industrial scanner, we can provide a robust, simple to operate solution tailored to fit your production line.

A one-touch barcode teaching facility ensures each unit can be operated in a standalone mode. There is no need to network units to a PC, or enter the barcode data string at the terminal. However, the controllers may be networked to provide a sophisticated data logging and error reporting facility which can be used as part of a quality control audit.

Outputs from the controller allow alarms such as beacons and buzzers to be driven when a fault is detected. An output may also be connected to the production line to halt operations if a preset number of packs have failed to scan.
